How we CAN compete with the big boys on price

Although we can’t compete with the large Truro supermarkets or even the Spar at Carnon Downs in terms of purchasing power with suppliers, we can outcompete them in terms of overheads because all volunteers work for free and we operate out of a converted container!
Trading off these two factors allows us to provide good quality products at competitive and fair prices whilst:
Supporting local suppliers
Generating savings to fund local good causes in the future
Providing a small return to our new shareholders via a lottery.
Please also note that almost 50% of our ambient products (IE those that can be stored at room temperature) are price marked, meaning that we are charging the same prices as any multi-national supermarket.
All other products are based on the RRP (recommended retail price) from the supplier and in many cases are cheaper than the Spar at Carnon Downs.
In the next few months, we will be doing some price comparisons, particularly with our best-selling products (e.g. cakes, milk and eggs) to confirm this.
